The intervening years have seen many changes, both in the parish facilities and in the demographics of the neighborhood. Through it all, the parish and its Our Lady of Mount Carmel Elementary School continues to serve the Catholic populace of the area. However, since 1986, the elementary school has not been administered by the School Sisters of Notre Dame. In 2011, the parish gave a fond farewell to our Canadian shepherds, entering a new phase of parish history with a new shepherd from the Archdiocese. Cardinal DiNardo named Rev Abelardo Cobos as pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Community.
